After the farce of climate talks in Copenhagen I tried to add my comment on the bbc site.
500 words was not enough so like most other posts on here this is letting of steam.
In the 90's I read a book. Entropy: A New World View.
I've doubtless mentioned it before as although unconvinced by the overall conclusions the facts were like hot pokers, they caught my eye and if dared to be grasped left a mark.
"we could feed 30 Indians for a year on one Americans air-conditioning bill" take a moment with that.
We live a lie, society is built on bullshit, people like bankers who if rated by earnings are some of the most valuable members of our society are but virtual boy scouts who generate fire from rubbing together two fictitious rocks.
We surround ourselves with items that require unsustainable levels of energy to produce and wonder why we can't get to any kind of agreement on how to deal with the world.
We in the developed world are in the wrong and can't admit it because the result would be so painful to our bullshit economic model.
We use too much of everything but are now to soft and lazy to consider the harder choice. The developing world wants what we have but we don't want them to have that because its bullshit but we can't admit-that remember?
There was no real agreement, nothing legally binding, Oh wow really?!
It's bullshit, we are living with our heads up our own arses and we need to see the approaching express train because a few things are just becoming visible in the headlights.
I saw mention in our local paper talk of dealing with the "the problem of cyclist in the park", .. the problem with cyclists in the park is that there is not enough of them! too many lazy fuckers are still driving less than a mile to work, getting fat and storing up medical problems that all of us in work and the future generation will be expected to pay for. I'll be long dead by the time the real impact of our current ways is recognised but that doesn't mean I don't care.
When we go under the approaching express we will take with us millions of other life forms who's only crime is to have been alive at the same time as this most selfish of monkeys.
Middle aged bloke who uses this for the occasional rant, take no notice.
