Imagine if you can the following scenario.
I've seen a profile on Flickr that is filled with other photographers work, some of it I recognise but virtually all is (IMO) not the work of the user.
The profile claims to be a 19 year old single girl, but even the "Self Portraits" don't look like the work of a enthusiast photographer.
Whoever he, sorry she is they seem to ignore any ideas of legality or common honesty.
What bothers me more is that others are leaving loads of complimentary comments on the photo's (if you are going to nick photo's you might as well nick some decent ones) so the user is becoming more respected for stealing than the rest of us can by being honest.
So there is a user who I think has a good chance of being completely not what they seem gathering contacts and maybe befriending a few unsuspecting others.
What can be done? Very little it seems. the rules state that only the original photographer can report copyright abuse and even then it's not like a two counts and out, its just the photos that get removed.
End of the Hypothetical bit.
Sooner or later a profile will be uncovered as some creep pretending to be a young person looking to meet same, lets hope it's not someone you saw and thought "that's funny" but didn't do anything about.
In a related vein a contact has been picked up on the creeps radar, the comments have started to come fast and of a single interest, makes me a little sad that outgoing creativity and interest in the wider world is met with little more than "nice tits!"
I love photography, love the creativity vision and talent, wish the creeps would keep to those driven only by their basic drives.
Sure people can lock down the profile to friends and family but that defeats the idea. There is a whole gamut of trustworthy and interesting people out there let's not let the creeps be the face of humanity.
That's a rant isn't it......
